Hi Senator Gelser Blouin and Representative Boshart;
Members of the Military Improvement Association (MIA) had a great Zoom call last week with two members of Senator Ron Wyden's staff as well as Albany's mayor, Alex Johnson II (CCed). I am forwarding you this email so you can have eyes on what the MIA is going to be doing at the national level so that you can help secure civil rights for military families in our state.
In the email, you'll notice the federal Military Civil Rights Act I drafted to close federal loopholes, but Oregon has few, if any, protections for military families from which to base an amendment. To make sure Oregon protects military families, a new law needs to be drafted from scratch. To that end, I am writing to inform you that MIA members plan to attend Legislative Days from September 23-25 to advocate for military civil rights in Oregon.
At your earliest convenience, please let Laura and I know your schedule for the Fall 20224 Leg Days so that we may speak with you about protecting families like ours. Sen Gelser Blouin, I have been deeply grateful for your support thus far. Rep. Boshart, it's unfortunate that we failed to connect after I texted you back in April. If you have time for that coffee we talked about, you have my number.
