On January 27, 2025, I asked the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) for the contact information of Pete Simpson, a former Public Information Officer who in 2017 had falsely characterized ORS 166.155 as “a bias/hate crime law in Oregon.” 

Logan M Isaac: [00:00:00] All right, now we're going into the Portland Police Bureau. Who said it first?

Hi, I've got a question that I sent to the PIO [Public Information Officer]. I'm hoping on a response before very long, before [my testimony to] the legislature tomorrow. Is there anybody that might be able to answer some questions I have?

Portland Police: Um, I mean, you can call the PIO, but yeah, I don't have any here. that

Logan M Isaac: Is Pete Simpson still here or, is he the PIO answer the question?

Portland Police: Uh they tell me...

Logan M Isaac: He may have moved on but if he was the PIO.

Portland Police: I'm now looking.

Logan M Isaac: Okay

Portland Police: I know he's not... I think he's [not here] anymore.

Logan M Isaac: Okay. If he's moved on, then what he said still stands as uh Portland bureau's official statement. Is that correct?

Portland Police: Uh it depends. I mean,

Logan M Isaac: Who can I talk to?

Portland Police: The PIO. You I give you the phone number.

Logan M Isaac: I don't have your You have a name as well.
