MCRA draft to Thatcher
On January 27, 2025, I provided Oregon Senator Kim Thatcher with the Legislative Concept that eventually became SB 1057, the Military Civil Rights Act.
Logan M Isaac: [00:00:00] Um, I was coming to drop something by for Linda Oh. Come on in. Logan Isaac
Um, I spoke with Chris Altman in legislative council.
Thatcher's Office: Uh-huh.
Logan M Isaac: Nobody can access Hieb's copy, but, uh, I originally did it on a Google Doc, and that's just a printout. You can use that, or I can send you the Google Doc, but it has to be resubmitted by no later than the twenty-first of February. Get it moving
Thatcher's Office: Write that down. Okay. And do you have a card?
Logan M Isaac: Yeah, not on me, but, uh, Linda has my contact info.
Thatcher's Office: Okay. And then that way I can, um, so we'll hear from... 'cause they are expecting it, um, before this afternoon. Okay. And
Logan M Isaac: this is
Thatcher's Office: in regards to, um, is it SB-15 or?[00:01:00]
Logan M Isaac: Uh, no, SJM- SJM ... well, that's a separate-
Thatcher's Office: Okay ...
Logan M Isaac: one, but this one is, uh, uh, a separate legislative concept that got stuck when he submitted it but then wasn't reelected. Okay. Altman said it doesn't matter the chamber, somebody, anybody, can just start a new legislative concept, give it to them, it'll do the exact same thing to be introduced, um, and it'll just come up later, I imagine.
Um, but that's why I spoke with Gelser and Bosshardt, um, but because y'all have been so helpful in the past, and it seems like a low hanging fruit, that's why I wanted to say, uh,
Thatcher's Office: that- Okay ...
Logan M Isaac: submit no later than February. Yeah. Um,
for input
Um, and Altman can't speak on the old [00:02:00] LC. That's why s- we've gotta start a new one. I'm gonna do the same. I'll go to Gelser and Bossart and make sure they have it as well, but anybody that submits it is allowed to. Uh, Wise LC
Um, can you confirm that there is a hearing to include SJM1 tomorrow? It's not... The last I checked, it wasn't on the ORLA website. They said it got removed.
Thatcher's Office: Um, I can't because I'm, I don't have access to those
Logan M Isaac: Okay
Thatcher's Office: But, um, I'm expecting to
Logan M Isaac: talk to
Thatcher's Office: Linda[00:03:00]
Logan M Isaac: Chaput
Thatcher's Office: Okay And I'll ask her. I just want, I just want your name so that I can- Oh, sorry. Logan Isaac. Yeah, so that I can, uh, give her
Um, who you are so they can know
Logan M Isaac: Okay
Thatcher's Office: You know.
Logan M Isaac: Yeah, I'll follow up with her as well. She's-
Thatcher's Office: Yeah ...
Logan M Isaac: hopefully I did some of the work for and c- we can get it done.
Thatcher's Office: Yeah. No, I-
Logan M Isaac: Oh, geez ...
Thatcher's Office: I understand. I'll, I'll have... I'll talk to Linda, and then Tony will be here for sure tomorrow, and hopefully I'll see Senator Thaddow later this afternoon at the committee.
Logan M Isaac: Okay, great. Thank you.
Thatcher's Office: Thank you.
Logan M Isaac: Oh, let me move that real quick.
