# GI Hater: Jonas Edmonds

Jonas Edmonds coordinated with a service member, [Hasan Edmonds](https://pewpewhq.com/trng/hater-edmonds-h?ref=gijustice.com), to impersonate a soldier in order to gain access to and violently attack a military installation. He was arrested on March 25, 2015, after [Section 4712](https://gijustice.com/soldiers-amendment/) of the [Hate Crimes Prevention Act](https://gijustice.com/content/files/2026/05/hcpa-12.html) made it a hate crime to target victims “on account of their military service.” Edmonds was never charged with a hate crime under [18 U.S.C. § 1389](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1389?ref=gijustice.com).
