# GI Hater: Travis Martin

Travis Brandon Martin communicated multiple violent threats to members of the military on November 10, 2016, after [Section 4712](https://gijustice.com/soldiers-amendment/) of the [Hate Crimes Prevention Act](https://gijustice.com/content/files/2026/05/hcpa-9.html) made it a hate crime to target victims “on account of their military service.” Martin was never charged with a hate crime under [18 U.S.C. § 1389](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1389?ref=gijustice.com).
