Veterans Deserve Civil RIghts Protections Too

Our nation’s veterans are left out of the very rights they preserve by their service. This must change if Americans are genuinely concerned about veterans’ well-being and dignity. This must change if America is truly going to be the Land of Opportunity for those who served in the military.

On May 31, 2013, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights held a hearing that included officials from federal agencies on their enforcement of existing laws, from advocacy groups whose representatives discussed their programs, and from servicemembers themselves.

Nobody knows the true extent of discrimination against Employed vets 

The Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contracts Compliance and Programs (OFCCP), the only agency tasked with tracking and sharing bias, harassment, and discrimination data to Congress, is not doing so. At best, the data legislators receive is misleading.

Why There Can Be No Justice Without GI Justice

If we believe that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, then the fact that members of our military lack basic civil rights is not simply morally compromising, it actually endangers the integrity of our social fabric as a whole. In other words, there can be no justice without GI justice.
