To the Civil Rights Division FOIA Office:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. § 552, I request the following records:
- Any complaints, reports, or referrals received by the Civil Rights Division alleging violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1389 (November 1, 2009 to present).
- Any internal guidance, memoranda, or policy documents addressing the Civil Rights Division’s jurisdiction over or enforcement responsibilities under 18 U.S.C. § 1389 (November 1, 2009 to present).
- Any communications between the Civil Rights Division and any other DOJ component regarding enforcement responsibility for 18 U.S.C. § 1389 (November 1, 2009 to present).
I request a fee waiver on the grounds that disclosure is in the public interest and will contribute to public understanding of government operations. I am a researcher documenting federal civil rights enforcement, and this request is not primarily commercial in nature.
If any records are withheld, please provide a Vaughn index and specific exemption justification for each.
Please respond within the statutory 20-business-day period.
