GI Hater: Terrence McNeil
Terrence Joseph McNeil was arrested for posting personally identifying information of soldiers and their Dependents for the purpose of targeting them for violence on November 12, 2015, after Section 4712 of the Hate Crimes Prevention Act made it a hate crime to target victims “on account of their military service.” McNeil was never charged with a hate crime under 18 U.S.C. § 1389.
The initial complaint (see below) is unique in that it cites sections 18 U.S.C. §§ 1389 and 1114 under “Background and Probable Cause,” but not as a formal charges. In the later indictment, law enforcement only applied 18 U.S.C. § 119, on the basis of six unnamed G.I. Does;
“two United States military personnel, A.B. and W.T.” (page 4)
“US Navy SEAL [R.O.]” (page 5)
“United States military service member, N.S., alongside two young children” (page 5)
