My Question for VP Harris

Tonight was the first debate between Trump and Harris, and I have a question for the Democratic nominee…

Harris was serving as the CA Attorney General in 2013 when Assembly Bill 556 was made law, adding “military and veteran status” to the classes protected by the state Civil Rights Department (CRD). It is the only state that I am aware of that puts military families on equal footing with other marginalized communities. In the decade since, however, the CRD still has not added military and veteran status to their own intake form to file a civil rights complaint;

As the top cop when AB 556 was passed, why did she allow “military and veteran status” to be ignored?

I know because I had to file against the American Academy of Religion, a labor organization I’ve belonged to since about the same time CA passed AB 556. Several months ago, I discovered that my community is specifically excluded from AAR policies protecting minorities. Not only have no staff self-identified as veterans, there is no Status Committee for us and we are excluded AAR’s Nondiscrimination Statement.

Will Kamala Harris improve her record on enforcing military civil rights by closing the loopholes left in CA, and make sure the holes in federal law also get closed?
