📧 “Please reconsider the war panel” to Hall
Three people who havent been to war are supposed to talk about it. Please reconsider this or insist that one of the many veteran students (because Duke conspicuously does not employ veteran faculty) be present on the panel even just as a token. just as a minstrel to nod or shake their head. every 65 minutes one of them will kill themselves because there is a plethora of uninformed intellectuals abstracting human beings from the practice and consequence of war. please GOD tell me you are better than being on this fucking panel. two fucking people in two months. thats how many soldiers i know that have killed themselves. be brave. be better than this stupid ass fucking panel. ask why the hell veterans are made invisible. ask why there was so much traction to ours the dean over his comments but not a peep when the wider university shits on those we'll "celebrate" in like 9 days. the church has already had 1700 years of this, and its more than enough. dont be the guy talking about feminism or the white clergy talking about the black church. be brave. and be better than that.

Wow. Um, please re-read what you wrote and reconsider writing to a friend out of the blue like this. And please also think through what you know of my history. If you think I'm unable to think about or speak about war, then you know me very much less than I previously thought.
