ODJ Scare Letter

On April 23, 2025, one day before filing motions to dismiss military civil rights, the Oregon Department of Justice sent a letter to the Military Improvement Association, the only organization promoting human dignity for military families. Scroll down for the transcript.

Dear Officers/Directors:

The Oregon Corporation Division has notified our office that your organization has registered as a nonprofit public benefit corporation. Generally, that means that your organization is also required to register with this office. We are contacting you because it appears that your organization is required to register with our office. The Oregon Attorney General has oversight authority over charitable organizations incorporated, soliciting, holding assets, or otherwise doing business in the state.

Please complete the enclosed registration form and attach the requested documents. Return the form and attached documents within 30 days from the date of this letter. You may return the form and attachments via email, mail, or facsimile. Our contact information is listed above.
