Hi Logan,

Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. I appreciate where you are coming from very much. I have a brother-in-law who still (silently, for the most part) suffers from PTSD and I pray for the day when he can speak as you have here about the ability to be happy in the face of tragedy.

To explain more fully, my vision for this isn't to show sadness or pain, I guess (and maybe I misspoke before), as much as it is to show reality. To show you untouched-up. I don't think we want a smiling happy face on a cover that invites people into an article about the painful reality of PTSD and that calls the church to action around it. I do want to show the light, though, and that will be reflected by an interior image or two. It might be important to show a photo of you at your wedding with a caption that even speaks about your taking the name Isaac and what that signified for you. So, the images as individuals wouldn't speak to the entire story but the series of images as a whole would.

No military attire is fine.

The photographer I'm tasking to this is Jo Hanley. She is phenomenal. I'm going to put the two of you in touch to find a time for next week and then we can be in touch further if you have questions or concerns. We want this piece to have the power it absolutely deserves. I believe we can do that by showing the seriousness on the cover, having a transitional (literally showing some light) image, and then showing an image of you happy, resolved, confident (essentially)—maybe a marriage photo, maybe one of Jo's photos. Sound OK?
